Bridge Design

The bridge has been designed with two primary interchanges, one in Charleston and one in Mount Pleasant.

The Charleston Interchange provides access onto the bridge from I-26 Eastbound, the Crosstown Expressway (US 17 Northbound), Meeting Street and Morrison Drive. Drivers crossing the bridge from Mount Pleasant can exit onto Morrison Drive, Meeting Street, the Crosstown Expressway (US 17 Southbound) and I-26 towards Columbia.

The Mount Pleasant Interchange enables travelers heading to Charleston to get onto the bridge from US 17 (Johnnie Dodds Boulevard), Coleman Boulevard, and Wingo Way. Traveling into Mount Pleasant drivers can drive straight onto US 17 North (Johnnie Dodds Boulevard) or onto Coleman Boulevard.

Access for the bicycle/pedestrian lane is available from Morrison Drive/East Bay Street near Cooper Street and Coleman Boulevard near Patriots Point Road.
